Trey Gowdy is the coolest guy in American public life - today's edition

There are some others just about equally cool, but being a writer, I have a special fondness for razor-sharp articulation of a point, such as Trey demonstrated on FNC's Kelly File last night, in reference to Jonathan Gruber:

"I would say this to the professor: Put down the cognac and the lost writings of J.D. Salinger – if you want to see how 'stupid' our fellow citizens are, take a look at last Tuesday night, because they rejected you, this bill and this administration."

The guy is a national treasure.

  1. This might be razor-sharp articulation of a point, perhaps for the many anti intellectuals in his camp who drink beer and moonshine and haven't read a novel since high school, but it is quite inaccurate. Gruber, as an economics professor at MIT would likely have little interest in the Lost Writings of JD Salinger and would certainly not be likely to be referencing Salinger in his classes. As for cognac, well, that's a frenchy le feu digestif. I'll bet ole Trey (God his parents must have been geniuses for naming him that) really could let loose on pot smokers that he had the pleasure of prosecuting. Prosecutorial dickweed like Ted Cruz, although Cruz at least matriculated to Princeton, then Hahvahd. I wouldn't call their ilk phonies, just assholes.

  2. Won't even come close to happening since they alienate far too many.
