Government schools: linchpins in the regime's plan to turn the post-American masses into easily startled cattle

This story has it all: an imperious school-district administrator, a profound lack of respect for the military, and government "education's" incessant attempts to make us all skittish about guns.  Thus does an 80-year tradition in a Wisconsin community come to an end - or at least get interrupted:

Part of the time-honored tradition, which is the main reason the anti-Second Amendment rights leftists have banned the annual event, is because a 21-gun salute is conducted as part of the ceremony, and the controlist educators are worried that some people may feel an “uneasiness,” even though blanks, not real bullets are used in the rifles.

“There are just some conditions that we have to adhere to and the shooting of guns, even with blanks, is something we don’t feel is appropriate given society, and the concerns that we have and that community has, on school premises,” said Tim Libham, the Executive Director of Administration for the Eau Claire School District, as reported by WEAU.

Another one of those hope-this-goes-viral outrages that those of us of a certain age find downright surrealistic.

  1. There have been few times in my life when I have been moved as much as during 21 gun salutes at the grave sites of my 2 maternal uncles who served in combat in Europe during WW II and I presume perhaps the most moving moment will be when my nonagenerain paterfamilias is laid to rest with the same tremendous tribute that will be denied me because I had neither an honorable war to serve nor, well, the inclination to kill or be killed, but in our Boomer lifetimes there has not been such a crisis for freedom in the world, at least not yet, and we have been so fortunate to have been born and raised in a country that did a lot of things right along the lines of liberty and justice for all and maintained a still viable system for defending our country from outside invaders. I still feel quite safe, even if you don't, perhaps curling up in a little ball of fear when your head hits the pillow wondering if some crazed Muslim will murder you in your sleep.

  2. The funeral Mass was beautiful and the 21 gun salute at the grave site and the playing of Taps for yet another member of the Greatest Generation gone-on was especially moving. Uncle Jim was a hearty hardy soul and an honor to his family who he selflessly provided for, his faith which he followed and practiced for life and his country which he unquestionably served during World War II. We all could do much worse than to follow his fine example. Rest in Peace, Uncle Jim.
And may God continue to bless his surviving spouse, children, grandchildren and beyond.

P.S. There was a little redhead there who turned his head and seemed very interested in watching Taps being sounded at the cemetery. And another one obviously on the way from first grandson Michael's wife. Make that great grandchildren and beyond....
