This coalition thing is already hitting some barrier reefs.
Turkey once again shows that its NATO membership is pretty much worthless. Refuses the MEC's request for use of its airbases. Gonna concentrate on "humanitarian efforts," doncha know.
And British foreign secretary Philip Hammond and German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier both say their countries will not take part in any air strikes over Syria.
And good old Russia, that paragon of adherence to international norms, is saying that such air strikes would be a "gross violation of international law." Foreign ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich says the MEC's big "coalition" needs a UN Security Council mandate.
This thing is off to a humdinger of a start.
Should we try the Ole "not with us/against us" tack? What a bunch of clueless boobs!
ReplyDeleteSome of realize how our military incursions over the past 13 years fubarred an already f'd up situation. Yet we are called clueless.
ReplyDeleteAnd your proposal for un-fubarring it is . . . ?
ReplyDeleteWhy do we here in the US have to think we can control a dammed thing in the ME? We can't control our own democracy
