AOC is either dumb as a box of rocks or is counting on you to be

I was just trying to find the tweet I came across a little while ago, in which someone said that Boston University's accreditation needs to be revoked for having conferred on Socialist Sandy an economics degree.

She's all gooey in the britches over Amazon reversing course on putting its second headquarters in the greater NYC area.

Now, let's deal with the overall subject of tax incentives right off the bat. In principle, they, like any form of government subsidy, should not exist. But there's a thing called present reality, and cities across the country compete to bring in big job-creating enterprises, using their tax codes to do so.

Thousands of jobs would indeed hav been created for the greater NYC area. Those jobs will go elsewhere now.

But it's her second point that really displays her complete economic ignorance - or her assumption that most post-Americans have that level of ignorance.

Speaking of tweets I've come across today, I'll let these two speak for what that's about.

Andrew Ross Sorkin:

There is a financial literacy epidemic in America. Quick lesson: NYC wasn’t handing cash to Amazon. It was an incentive program based on job creation, producing tax revenue. There isn’t a $3 billion pile of money that can now be spent on subways or education.

Jedidiah Bila:

Jesus, take the wheel. Does she think we were just writing a check for $3B to Amazon, money we just had lying around & could’ve spent elsewhere?Jesus, please take the wheel. Does she not know that the $ would be a tax break off of their investment in our economy?
WTF-ing F.
So are post-Americans as stupid as AOC is counting on them to be?

  1. Personally I thought Amazon was crazy to decide on NYC metro area. DeBlasio is saying you gotta be tough to make it in NYC. Yeah, like you gotta be tough to make it in prison too. If you can't make it there, Amazon, I think a hundred other cities would love to make you theirs.

  2. The point here is that AOC either actually believes this leaves some kind of $3B on the table, or assumes those inclined to generally buy into her socialism believe it.
She's either a dim bulb or a cynical manipulator.

  3. I get your point. That was just a comment on the issue.

  4. And if a hundred other cities would love to have Amazon, judging by the number which bid on luring them to their locations, that in itself pretty much tells the tale about AOC's economic illiteracy. Some of these Democratic women are quite coo coo or even dangerous. Nothing you won't find in scripture.
