The very existence of Chick-Fil-A brings up the leftists' stuff

I'm no statistics wonk, but I kind of wonder if Chick-Fil-A's business success doesn't provide something of a barometer regarding how much of post-America is still not buying into the Left's hatred of Christianity. Yes, it's true that a number of trends don't bode well, including plummeting church attendance and the fact that those with no religious affiliation are the largest segment of the population now, but the exhortations from the progressives to quit patronizing the purveyor of poultry patties is clearly falling on deaf ears. The chain outpaces all the competition in terms of sales, profits and popularity.

Limiting its availability isn't even doing the trick. Add the San Antonio airport to the list of places that won't allow a franchise to be established.

The plain fact is that Chick-Fil-A isn't anti anything. Its stores have no barriers to anyone eating there or working there. The Left just can't stand the fact that its approach to conducting business is explicitly Christian. That means, among other things, understanding that there is no other kind of marriage than between a woman and a man, and understanding that sexual intimacy of any kind other than between said woman and man is a sin.

I'd wager that the chain is so popular precisely because everybody feels so welcome at any of its stores.

The company's founding values are about as inclusive as you could ask for:

“Chick-fil-A’s corporate purpose statement reveals the heart of our company: To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.”
Granted, not everyone in a Chick-Fil-A drive-through is entertaining the full extent of the layers of sociocultural consideration. For the vast majority of patrons, it's not an act of resistance against the identity-politics militants to grab a bag of nuggets and waffle fries. But those folks are not going to be deterred from enjoying that repast. They're not going to be cowed into making a statement with their dining choices, particularly when the choice they're making is to do business with one of the friendliest, most innocuous companies around.

  1. The "Left" does not hate Christianity. The "Left" only hates bigotry. It is the "Right" that insists the two are inextricably intertwined. Cheers.

  2. Consider the point of this post. All the Democrat city councils that have banned Chick-Fil-A. Consider the universities that have tried to make campus Christian groups accept non-Christian members. Consider the lesbian couples that had other “wedding” cake options available but chose to take Christian bakers to court - or sic human-rights commissions on them.

  3. Consider “art” such as Piss Christ.

  4. In each case cited it is their discrimination and not their faith causing the issues...with the exception of your odd inclusion of the Piss Christ work. The artist in question is not particularly "Leftist", though he IS a life-long Catholic and proclaims himself to be a follower of Christ.
