The focus has been on the former the last week or so, but it behooves us to give proper attention to this development:
An apparent Islamic State recruitment document found in Pakistan’s lawless tribal lands reveals that the extremist group has grand ambitions of building a new terrorist army inAfghanistan and Pakistan , and triggering a war in India to provoke an Armageddon-like “end of the world.”
The 32-page Urdu-language document obtained by American Media Institute (AMI) and reviewed by USA TODAY details a plot to attack U.S. soldiers as they withdraw from Afghanistan and target American diplomats and Pakistani officials.
AMI obtained the document from a Pakistani citizen with connections inside the Pakistani Taliban and had it independently translated from Urdu by Harvard researcher and translator Mustafa Samdani. The Pakistani's identity was shared with USA TODAY, which has agreed not to identify him publicly because of concerns for his safety.
The document was reviewed by threeU.S. intelligence officials, who said they believe the document is authentic based on its unique markings and the fact that language used to describe leaders, the writing style and religious wording match other documents from the Islamic State, also known as ISIL and ISIS. They asked to remain anonymous because they are not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
The undated document, titled “A Brief History of the Islamic State Caliphate (ISC), The Caliphate According to the Prophet,” seeks to unite dozens of factions of the Pakistani andAfghan Taliban into a single army of terror. It includes a never-before-seen history of the Islamic State, details chilling future battle plans, urges al-Qaeda to join the group and says the Islamic State's leader should be recognized as the sole ruler of the world’s 1 billion Muslims under a religious empire called a “caliphate.”
Whether we have the will to thwart this is by no means a certainty.
Thank you for your situational patriotism.
ReplyDeleteExplain. I'm unclear as to what that means.
ReplyDeletePretty simple, if things are going your way at the top, you're a patriot; if not, you're not. Then you still call yourself a patriot, and all other citizens not in agreement become post-Americans. You got statecraft instead of war at the top now and you and the PM of Israel don't like it and don't trust it. It tears you apart, but since this is still a constitutional democracy, i.e., government of laws, not men, you find yourself out of power and hence do not trust the direction your leaders have us going. It tears you up. Better luck in November, 2016. I'll still be an American, will you?
ReplyDeleteIt's not a matter of "things going my way" or not. The nation formerly known as the United States of America is now in the grip of a nomenklatura of hard leftists who are feverishly orchestrating its decline on the world stage, even as they implement totalitarianism at home.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, when this was the USA, we had a nation of laws, not men. Not so in this era of executive overreach, of EPA regs, of surrender to Iran, of disregard of our borders, of $18 trillion-plus debt, of inadequate pinprick bombing sorties against the jihadist enemy discussed in this post.
Damn right I call anyone who isn't alarmed about this post-Americans. All God-loving, freedom-cherishing, common sense-adhering people understand that that is what they are.
True patriots are doing everything in their power to thwart the evil being inflicted on this precious land by the Democrats.
Yep, maybe, but it's all cycles. This ain't the end of anything. Go forth to do what you do for money and fun.
