You know you can take Susan Rice's word for it (tongue firmly in cheek)

After all, she has a notable track record of, um, going on Sunday shows and keeping us apprised of how well the regime has the situation regarding jihad under control.

Don't you feel calmer after being assured of this?

“No, Chuck, this is very early days of the strategy,” Rice explained [on Meet the Press this morning]. The administration will have us do “what we can through the air,” as well as supporting the Kurdish forces in Iraq and the moderate rebels in Syria (previously described by Obama as hapless farmers, teachers and pharmacists).
Rice also reiterated Obama’s refusal to commit ground troops, asserting that an approach based on the commitment of American troops “wouldn’t be sustainable[.]” Are the current circumstances “sustainable” until the later days of the “strategy” arrive? Todd didn’t ask and Rice didn’t say.
Message coordination seems to be lacking.  Over on ABC, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey was singing a different tune.
