Gateway Pundit has a roundup of scenes from Kobane that bring home the visceral, human dimension: A guy carrying his 92-year-old grandmother on his back, an 85-year-old Kurdish guy with his rife and water bottle beside him, ready to defend his hometown, two pictures of a woman - one in which she's in civilian dress with her children, and another in fatigues with her rife, shortly before she was killed, a crying little kid lugging a bag of belongings nearly as big as he is, with a soldier standing in the background.
This municipality is in the Middle East, but history may well record that it is where Western civilization died. Certainly, it's where it lost its humanity.
