Just like the shooter in Canada. Just like the car driver in Canada. Just like the guy in Oklahoma who beheaded a co-worker.On September 13th, Thompson described on his Facebook page the Islamic act of jihad as a “justifiable response to the oppression of the ‘Zionists [Jews] and the Crusaders [Christians].”A reported convert to Islam, His Facebook cover photo featured Arabic writing from the Quran that talks about finding “the straight path” through Allah. His profile photo features a man dressed as a warrior in Arab attire. His Facebook page was taken down sometime late afternoon Friday New York time, following his identification as the attacker.Last month, Thompson commented under a YouTube video titled, “Uprise of the Khilafah (Caliphate) World Wide." He wrote:If you’re looking for “perfect” muslims who never make any mistakes in their Jihad, then you will be looking in vain! If the Zionists and the Crusaders had never invaded and colonized the Islamic lands after WW1, then there would be no need for Jihad! Which is better, to sit around and do nothing, or to Jihad fisabeelallah (for the sake of allah)! The pro-Islamic State video explained how creating an Islamic caliphate should be the ultimate goal for the Islamic State and other Islamist entities.
While much of this war against jihad will have to be waged militarily (will somebody please provide the requisite personnel and hardware in Syria and Iraq?), this is yet another example of the maxim that culture is upstream from policy. Until we address the grim fact that post-America is a fractured society with a hatred for its own Judeo-Christian foundation, we will get these "lone wolves" who find a sense of belonging in one of the most vicious movements in human history.
You are really drooling for a wider war again aren't you? It would probably stick in your craw if Rand Paul got the Republican nomination then. The other day he said "Reagan had it right when he spoke to potential adversaries: 'Our reluctance for conflict should not be misjudged as a failure of will.' " Doesn't that just send shivers down your spiney spine?
ReplyDeleteWas there ever a time when you understood how precious Western civilization is, how precious America is, or were you born disillusioned and jaded?
ReplyDeleteWhy is it disillusioned and jaded to know and agree that our reluctance for conflict is not weakness as you continually cry that it is? That's jaded, man.
ReplyDeleteSen. Rand Paul just gave one of the most important speeches on foreign policy since George W. Bush declared war on Iraq. But instead of declaring war on another country, Paul declared war on his own party. Or, at least, its entire approach to foreign policy. And I agree, what's disillusioned and jaded about all that. If Hillary wins the nomination (and not someone like Jim Webb and he's not going to), it's Rand Paul for President for me. He is highly unlikely to bring on the preemptors that Romney was clearly going to allow back in. Its onward, rather than backwards for me and perhaps enough of the electorate to have your ilk continually bitching and moaning about a Republican. Wouldn't that be special!
ReplyDeleteIn the speech, Paul outlined four basic principles for conducting foreign policy.
First, "war is necessary when America is attacked or threatened, when vital American interests are attacked and threatened, and when we have exhausted all other measures short of war." But not otherwise.
Second, "Congress, the people's representative, must authorize the decision to intervene." No more war without express authorization.
Third, "peace and security require a commitment to diplomacy and leadership." That means expanding trade ties and diplomatic links around the world.
Fourth, "we are only as strong as our economy." For Paul, the national debt and slow growth are national security crises.

And that is what I feel so why is that disillusioned and jaded? I celebrate life liberty and happiness as much as the next guy (you?), no way am I disillusioned and jaded. Take a sniff at your own writings, and realize that when you point fingers, 3 are pointing right back at you.
ReplyDeleteYou are apparently fine with this country being conquered by jihadists.
ReplyDeleteAnd count me in as one who is extremely wary of Rand Paul, who seems intelligent enough, as well as a compassionate physician, but who was raised by a complete nut whose foreign policy views have had way too much influence on the son.
We have a situation where American interests are threatened, per the stuff I post about multiple times daily.
Why does that make me fine with this country being conquered by jihadists? Rand's 1st principle covers this quite nicely as does our current standing military which is by far the strongest in the world.
ReplyDeleteFirst, "war is necessary when America is attacked or threatened, when vital American interests are attacked and threatened, and when we have exhausted all other measures short of war." But not otherwise.
Get the "when we have exhausted all other measures short of war" part? I am sure not.
ReplyDeleteand John loves Ron too. They say the millennials think more like me too so that's not in your favor either, though I suppose that is another reason for your jadedness and disillusionment. No biggie, just dismiss them as low info.
ReplyDeleteYou have no policy, let alone a set of core principles, by which to make sure it doesn't happen. For instance, with whom are we supposed to negotiate to stem the ISIS threat? ISIS itself? Or how about Iran? It continues to stall in these talks, and you saw the post here about the top adviser to Khameini who publicly said that the MEC is a weak and humiliated president. What else is there to talk about with a regime like that?
ReplyDeleteGo inward my son, as Lao prescribed, the answers are there.
ReplyDeleteThose who advice the ruler on the Way,
Do not want the world subdued with weapons.
Such deeds bring on retaliation.
Thorn bushes grow where armies have camped.
Battles are followed by years of famine.
Therefore, good leaders reach solutions,
And then stop.
They do not dare to rely on force.
Ole Lao, he can go on and on in brevity
Still haven't given us an actual policy - unless this "go inward" business is it, in which case I was not wrong to conclude that you're fine with seeing our civilization conquered and enslaved.
ReplyDeleteAgain, here's the actual policy. Ron Paul got it from me:
ReplyDeleteFirst, "war is necessary when America is attacked or threatened, when vital American interests are attacked and threatened, and when we have exhausted all other measures short of war." But not otherwise.
Are you dissing old Lao?President Ronald Reagan loved Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu’s governing philosophy. He used the philosophy to convince the law makers to support the Republican free market notion. In 1988, in front of the Joint Session of Congress on the State of the Union, Reagan told the law makers that the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao-tzu, had pointed out that over-governing was not good governing. He then quoted Lao-tzu, "Govern a great nation as you would cook a small fish; do not overdo it." Lao Tzu’s succinct language helped Reagan to win the support from the law makers.

Obama may be a weak and humiliated president but that is for us to know and do something about it. That's real persuasive, Mr. Top Advisor to Kahmeini, like I give a crap about what you think. Go pound sand and suck oil you crazy crackpot!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure the NYC axe wielder is a known nut from way back:
ReplyDeleteThe axe wielder has already been identified as Zale Thompson, a 32 year old with a criminal record who was discharged by the U.S. Navy for misconduct.
