Two of the nation's premier newspapers are proud to be agents of societal rot

Ever heard of Sarah Jeong?

She just joined the editorial board of the New York Times.

Here are some of her recent tweets:

Dumbass fucking white people marking up the Internet like dogs pissing on fire hydrants.

1.) White men are bullshit.
2.)  No one cares about women.
3.) you can threaten anyone on the internet except cops

I dare you to get on Wikipedia and play "Things white people can take credit for." It's really hard.
Down the Acela Corridor a few miles, the Washington Post has seen fit to recently publish the following opinion columns:

First, there was “Why can’t we hate men?” by professor Suzanna Walters. Then there was “I no longer have hope in white America” by the Post’s own Karen Attiah. Finally, there was “Pride Month is over. Welcome to LGBTQ Wrath Month” by university instructor Anthony Oliveira.

Do each of these papers employ far more responsible opinion writers, reporters and editors? Certainly, but the fact that this kind of poison is considered to be within the parameters of civil discourse indicates a "journalistic" direction that is eventually going to leave no room for anyone not this consumed with frenzy and bitterness.

The post immediately under this one has to do with universities. Today it's major newspapers. We all know what's happened to entertainment forms such as stand-up comedy, movies and music. The sports world is still discussing the whole take-a-knee phenomenon. The mainline Protestant denominations have given up all pretense of being doctrinally sound Christian bodies.

Normal people did not ask for this war.

But we're in it. And it's going to require all the maturity, wisdom and reverence we can muster. Of course, fierce adherence to purpose, too.

But none of that Kurt Schlichter-style "new rules, bitch" attitude.

Dignity is exactly what the Left wants to stamp out. None of the stuff like a robust GDP or lessened tensions with rogue states is going to be worth it if the Left gets us to abandon the main thing we've always valued.

I suppose it might be late enough in the day that a majority of post-Americans respond to the above tweets and columns with something along the lines of "All sounds great to me," but I really doubt it.

Still, we can't just shrug and say, "You get that kind of stuff nowadays."

Actually, a lot of people probably don't even know about any of these developments. "Most people are preoccupied with jobs and families and don't read newspapers anymore" and all that.

But left unchecked, this dog vomit will come to a town near you.

We must not wait until every acre of post-America is poisoned by this stuff.

Decide here and now to be an agent of light instead of darkness.

  1. There is still other good stand up comedy, music and movies out there if they make you laugh, cry or even think. Or are you in favor of censoring the censorious in your mind? Feed your spirit and your head as you will, if not always as you wish. Write, compose or shoot your own work as you will.

  2. Many people don't read anything anymore and who's fault is that?

  3. I do write and compose my own work. That's one component of being a functioning agent of cultural participation, certainly.

And no, I'm not into censorship.

  4. I just don't buy your domino theory on this cultural rot.
