The grim juncture to which post-America has come

So Hillionaire gets to skate.

Comey was supposed to be the standup guy, the straight arrow. Alas, consider his reasoning in deciding not to recommend indictment: Just because there's no proof that Hillionaire intended to harm the United States, it's okay to give her a pass on violating section 793(f) of the Espionage Act, along with 18 USC 1924, 18 USC 798, and 18 USC 2071.

Also consider the sequence of events of the past few days: the Phoenix tarmac meeting between Billy Jeff the Zipper and AG Lynch, Huma's testimony about daily schedules in burn bags, and now Hillionaire flying on Air Force One with the Most Equal Comrade to campaign appearances - in other words, politicking on our dime.

As I said yesterday in my post about the burn bag, the Clintons reserve the right to operate according to an entirely different set of rules than the legal code the rest of us observe.

We are observing the breakdown of our societal fabric, of the rule of law, in real time.

And the presumptive presidential nominee of the other major post-American party bestirs himself two and a half hours after Comey's announcement to offer a lame tweet. No press release, no announcement of his own that would indicate that he understands the gravity of the moment, the damage being done to the foundation of this country.

I keep hoping that someday I'll wake up to a news landscape of developments that will move me to consider that this blog's name is obsolete. Alas, the array of events which I do encounter confirms for me that it grows more apt all the time.

  1. Don't worry, Trump will start blaring about it all and won't let up until he loses in November. Well, I sure hope he loses. Meanwhile, I'm sure your ilk will be digging up more dirt. We've all waxed so prosecutorial since Watergate. Everything's an inquisition. Oh well, keeps lawyers engaged. God knows we sure have enough of them. I know you're weary and disappointed now, but it'll get better, you'll find another way to pillory Hillary, or more likely, Billary..

  2. So we can mark you down as a Hillary Clinton enthusiast? On what basis?

  4. I don't think you could get a conviction and certainly not for a felony. It would just be another national spectacle.

  5. She certainly committed a few.

Ted wants his Senate committee to get a look at the evidence the FBI gathered

  6. Yeah, he probably has a lot of those Hillary for Prison campaign buttons he was passing out back when he still thought he was a condenda.

  7. It's important for her to be politically disemboweled. Ruined. Hopelessly damaged. Same goes for Squirrel-Hair.

  8. And most of the world wants Hillie (and Billie) again and it looks quite clear that they will get them, thank God for sparing us the alternative.

  9. So you think there is no information about our national security that is worth classifying? You think it's great that China and Russia have access to top-secret, highly sensitive information about US security?

  10. Not at all, just that it's going nowhere now but with the inevitable fall-out from those who want what you want and are apparently not going to get it. Hang on if you will, you're not gonna get Hillie on this one either.

  11. Your cognitive dissonance is astounding. Comey said - at his presser and again today in his House testimony - that our enemies have the classified info H. chose to keep on an unsecured server.
