Ben Sasse wins his Pub Senate primary in Nebraska.
He brings a package of both substance and symbolism to the general-election battle. He has the backing of many of our heroes and venerated organizations: Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, National Review, the Club for Growth, Gun Owners of America, and the Family Research Council. It's not often such a collection of people and groups comes together with such enthusiasm for one political figure. His career highlights are heavy on involvement with he intersection of Christian faith and public policy. He was the youngest college president on record in America, taking that post at Midland University at age 37.
It's a mixed bag elsewhere on the primary landscape, but this one has the plus of energizing us. We have a spokesperson who keeps the message clear and his principles intact.
