Bob Kerrey gets it

The former Dem Senator lays into the Most Equal Comrade as well as FHers' utter unwillingness to address the Big Three Entitlements' unfunded liabilities.

Man, that's gonna leave a mark.

  1. Kerrey understands that fundamentally, entitlement programs mean we're "robbing from the future to pay for the past. And we're shoveling more and more money to people over the age of 65." --that other Kerry who used to date an actress
10 mos. to go, where do I sign up? I think I have to wait until 66, if I want I can wait until 70 or even longer, so I presume he is talking about Medicare. His talk is fueling generational warfare. We paid our share and our parents' gen lived and are still living retirements unheard of in the history of mankind. Now they're called entitlements. What ever happened to the surplus?

"It's not unreasonable for people who paid into a system for decades to expect to get their money's worth--that's not an "entitlement," that's honoring a deal. We as a society must also make an ironclad commitment to providing a safety net for those who can't make one for themselves."--Ronnie R. Reagan, 1983

  2. On April 20, 1983, Reagan signed a bill to preserve Social Security. At that bill signing, the president said words every Republican should heed:

"This bill demonstrates for all time our nation's ironclad commitment to Social Security. It assures the elderly that America will always keep the promises made in troubled times a half a century ago. It assures those who are still working that they, too, have a pact with the future. From this day forward, they have one pledge that they will get their fair share of benefits when they retire."

  3. And still it wasn't enough. As you ask, what happened? How come there is such a huge unfunded liability now?

  4. I like that "made in troubled times" phrase, kind of a back-handed insult to OASI. But he did say it "demonstrates for ALL TIME our nation's IRONCLAD commitment to Social Security. " Perhaps his prescience was more correct on other matters. There hasn't been a Saint like him since for your ilk, has there?

"My fellow Americans, I am pleased to tell you I just signed legislation which outlaws Russia forever. The bombing begins in five minutes."

  6. but sometimes he bull-shat, hope this was not one of the times, but what can he do about it now? I am sure he will be re-quoted if and when you come to take away our social security and medicare which you lump-in with welfare as entitlements.

  7. Your use of the term "take away" is a prime indicator of the extent to which you have decided to become a cow instead of a sovereign individual human being. You have placed your destiny in the hands of the state, because security means everything to you and your freedom is for sale.
