They're generally on balance good people in terms of their character
Great Townhall column by Mona Charen on why she gives three cheers for the rich. They tend to be the most inventive, industrious and civic-minded among us.
So what, I neither applaud nor envy them and, like with all people, I have a certain feeling for some, against some. But it's whatever we do to the least of our brethren that supposedly mattered to one quite willingly poor man who once walked amongst us. Supposedly harder for a rich man to get to heaven than a camel to go through the eye of a needle though, if you can buy that kind of rap.
