Great Victor Davis Hanson piece at NRO in which he looks at the odd - or maybe not so odd - phenomenon of West-haters, both indigenous and from other countries, being so keen to point up so-called blots on Western history, when contemporary examples of oppression of women, ethnic and racial minorities and homosexuals abound - all while rushing to get here instead of emigrating to Japan or Bahrain.
What really stuck to my ribs was his observation that the real human condition - the moral state of our species - doesn't change just because we advance materially.
But in the view of the instant-gratification crowd, that is no excuse. Indeed, it is a reason to give Western civilization a swift kick at every opportunity. Often administered via iPhone.
