The confluence of West-disdain and cluelessness

Ben Rhodes takes lameness to a whole new level:

CNN’s Jake Tapper really grilled White House deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes on State of the Union for President Obama saying just days ago ISIS is “contained.”And given the horror in Paris, not to mention the downed Russian airliner and suicide bombings in Beirut, Tapper said, “If this is what ISIS looks like contained, I shudder to think what ISIS looks like uncontained.”
Rhodes said that the U.S. has been able to stop ISIS advances in specific regions, but when he said “we have to be one step ahead,” Tapper asked incredulously, “One step ahead? We don’t seem to be one step ahead of any terrorist group these days!”
He brought up the continued criticisms that the president and the White House “may continue to underestimate” ISIS and put things into stark perspective when he said, “This is the worst atrocity in France since Hitler!”
Rhodes said the U.S. campaign against ISIS is a long-term one with “tragic setbacks” like Paris. He defended the U.S.’ plan to bring in refugees and said that the U.S. is prepared to ramp up if France invokes Article V of the NATO treaty to get allies on its side to fight back against ISIS.
Ya got yer "tragic setback."

And it's so comforting to know the architects of post-America's eclipse on the world stage are ready to "ramp up."
