The way things unfold in a world without American leadership

China warns the West that sanctions against Russia would lead to a 'spiral'  at the same time that Russian troops are massing on the Ukraine border.

Yes, Secretary Global-Test is talking a bit tougher than is customary for him, but the momentum is not on his side.  China has been engaged in an aggressive military buildup even as post-America announces plans to reduce the size of its military to a 1940 level.

And recall that this is the same Secretary Global Test who wants to make "climate change" a top priority for US embassies worldwide.  And a post-American military that is apparently cool with drag-queen parties on its bases.

Our rivals, adversaries and enemies look at our priorities and preoccupations, which they regard as utterly silly, and see opportunity to fill the vacuum.

  1. Ole Tricky Dick opened China to us. Now it looks like he did it for Big Biz. I liked them much better on rickshaws & bicycles. Much better for the environment too. China is a real threat with a much longer view of history that we might have to stamp out before we reach the Brave New World of international "love" for lack of a better term. Talk about cattle and sheep, China has the biggest corral on earth ready to bust out all over. First for war, then for a peace on their terms. They may not kill us in our beds but they may be sleeping in them someday.

  2. Perhaps things will go better for Putin than they did for us in Iraq, if not Afghanistan. Sure, we need a real big war to make us all feel alive, unless we are dead, of course. Better them than US, right?

  3. And the current (not post) American military needs a policy regarding drag drama on base. Some like it hot, but only in the cinema. Should they begin banning certain films on base too?

  4. The only reason any nation state ever "needs' War is to thwart threats from enemies.
