Even the AP now sees that the Most Equal Comrade is Putin's bitch

The title of its piece about their relationship is "Obama's Warnings Brushed Aside by Russia's Putin."

Some observations contained within:

The White House says it still believes a diplomatic solution to the dispute with Russia is possible. Obama spoke with Putin for more than an hour Thursday, outlining a potential resolution that would include Russia pulling its forces back in Crimea and direct talks between the Kremlin and Ukraine.
But the fast-moving developments in Crimea may mean that the ultimate question facing Obama is not be what the U.S. can do to stop Russia from taking control of Crimea, but what kind of relationship Washington can have with Moscow should that occur.
White House advisers insist the U.S. could not go back to a business as usual approach with Russia if Moscow were to annex Crimea or recognize its independence. But that may be seen as empty threat to the Kremlin after the U.S., as well as Europe, did just that in 2008 after Russia recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, two breakaway territories of Georgia. Russia also continues to keep military forces in both territories.

No wonder the MEC's foreign-policy chops are garnering a 33 percent poll rating these days.

  1. Say what you want but Putin's move is indeed "old world" which might surprise him (as would an old world bullet between the eyes) when the rest of the globe doesn't play those games quite so much any more. I intuit that your ilk enjoyed the cold war, the only thing better is a real one, so let's praise the Lord and pass the ammunition, right?

  2. But never fear, when our military might become involved, the Republicans are here (talking down to Dems):. It's the same old story. I propose the reason a majority of the military always carp about a Dem is that they are the most brainwashed segment of our society.

"Senators John McCain of Arizona and Marco Rubio of Florida, both Republicans, agreed with the comparison to Nazi Germany. “The point is that if Putin is allowed to go into a sovereign nation on behalf of Russian-speaking people, this is the same thing that Hitler did prior to World War II,” Mr. McCain said. “So I’m pleased Hillary Clinton is commenting on it.”

  3. The world is as hard and mean as it was 50 years ago, 200 years ago, and 2000 years ago. A nation-state, particularly one that extolls virtues beyond naked nationalism, must be prepared to hit any enemy with superior force. It's always been that way, always gonna be.

  4. The world is rapidly getting smaller due to the death of distance granted by telecommunications and the internet. it is also growing more interconnected. Never before in history have we had these conditions which WILL usher in a brave new world of some sort whether you or I like it or not. It is also not "our" world any longer, bloggie, we have much more in common than differences.

  5. Tell that to the Ayatollah Khameini, Kim Jong-Un, Ayman al-Zawahiri and Vladimir Putin.
