Ben Sasse is one of the coolest human beings on the planet

From his opening statement at the Kavanaugh hearings:

"The hysteria around Supreme Court confirmation hearings" comes from "a fundamental misunderstanding of the role of the Supreme Court in American life now," says. "Our political commentary talks about the Supreme Court like they're people wearing red and blue jerseys."
From his demeanor to his intellectual pedigree to his principles to his humor, he's exactly what a 2018 conservative should be.

And Kurt Schlichter needs to fly up his own ass and disappear.

  1. All that stuff about color of jerseys and you end by praising the nominee for being exactly what a 2018 conservative should be. I hear grousing about how some justices change jerseys as the seasons pass. You'll hear a lot of jive about ruling on the law, but it appears that it will be game on when Special K suits up to save the day.

  2. Hint: what color is your 2018 conservative Jersey? Not that I won't root for you but at least I can find you on the field for the red team.

  3. The team with the red jerseys believe in interpreting the Constitution according to the intent of the Framers.

  4. So you evidently disagree with your principled intellectual legislative hero Sasse who decries the football (or battle metaphor). Do you know whether your glorified founders envisioned the court becoming political?

  5. You can bet the nominator expects this nominee and his other(s?) to run his plays from, er, his big bench. Make Amerika grate again!

  6. If that's what he expects from his nominees, he may be disappointed at times. Their only driver in coming to decisions is where the Constitution stands on the principles involved in a particular case.
