You realize that Netanyahu does not in any sense find full favor over in Israel. I am so with Shelly Yachimovich on all this. Obama holds your Nettie in utter contempt, not Israel, and I don't blame him.
You know your "man," your 3rd or 4th choice for the Republican candidate for president? Can we say that he holds Israel in utter contempt (or just certain Israeilis?) since he won't talk to Netanyahu's opposition in his own country?
Romney apparently accepts instructions from Netanyahu who succeeded in getting him to cancel a scheduled and meticulously planned meeting with MK Shelly Yacimovich, the leader of the Labor party.
A meeting with the opposition leader is also required as a matter of protocol; when then-senator Barack Obama visited Israel on the eve of the 2008 U.S. elections, he met with Benjamin Netanyahu.
Netanyahu himself admits that Obama has met with him more than any other US President. And he appreciates that.
Obama, who opted not to meet Netanyahu on his U.S. visit, spoke by phone to the Israeli leader, who used his UN speech on Thursday to keep up pressure on Washington to set a "red line" for Tehran. But in a softening of his approach, Netanyahu also signaled that no Israeli attack on Iran was imminent before the November 6 U.S. presidential election.
"The two leaders underscored that they are in full agreement on the shared goal of preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon," the White House said in a statement. But it stopped short of saying Obama had given any ground on his resistance to issuing an ultimatum to Tehran as Netanyahu has demanded.

ReplyDeleteThat would be expected. You're proud to call yourself a Democrat.
ReplyDeleteLabor Party in Israel. Shelly an ardent feminist, Israel actually grew up in Socialism. Many in Israel think Nettie is to blame.
