A big part of Congress asserting its equality as a branch of government is going to be to say "no"

One part of Squirrel-Hair's victory speech that ought to be a big-ass red flag to conservatives:

Barack Obama? Or Donald Trump?
Can anyone here tell me the difference?
In a triumphant victory speech early Wednesday, President-elect Donald J. Trump cited the issue as a top priority for his administration.
“We are going to fix our inner cities and rebuild our highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, schools, hospitals,” Mr. Trump said. “We’re going to rebuild our infrastructure, which will become, by the way, second to none.”
. . . .
During the presidential campaign, Mr. Trump pledged to spend nearly $1 trillion on infrastructure, seeking to outshine Hillary Clinton on an issue that is a growing concern for many Americans.
Nancy Pelosi says it sounds great to her:
Pelosi, who was speaker of the House during Obama’s first two years in office and helped drive the passage of Obamacare, suggested there may even be a few points of agreement on legislative priorities.
“As President-elect Trump indicated last night, investing in infrastructure is an important priority of his,” she said. “We can work together to quickly pass a robust infrastructure jobs bill.”
Whenever you repeat an idea of Barack Obama’s, which helped him double the national debt, and Nancy Pelosi gives you the thumbs up . . . well, I think you have a real winner there.
The short-term way to counteract this is for Congress tone proactive from the get-go, as I stress in the post below. Craft legislation on health care, tax rates, energy and Iran quickly and as if you were going to be sending it to a conservative president. There will be grownup White House personnel  who will explain to Squirrel-Hair that these are good things.

But longer-term, he is going to want to push some wacky stuff. And the Pub Congress damn well better be ready to exhibit mucho spine.

  1. Doubtful. They will be slavering lap dogs to DT because he can win them further terms in congress. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and they now possess power in all three branches of our government. You must know the evil to defeat it. I'm sure the good and decent people of Germany believed in their hearts that their elected officials would stop Hitler. Politics fueled by rage and greed never end well. Ann Ward
