Squirrel-Hair's Detroit speech - first thoughts

He struck all the right notes. With economic advisors like Larry Kudlow and Stephen Moore, it would be strange if he hadn't.

Quite obviously, it's time to bring government regulation to a screaming halt. It was good to hear the EPA singled out as particularly egregious.

Drastic reductions in corporate and individual tax rates was exactly the right prescription as well.

But let us not forget that this is a guy who, in recent days, has spoken favorably about the minimum wage, and has given a fairly strong indication that he wouldn't stand in the way of the anti-fracking mob.

Go back a little further, and you find him saying, regarding health care, "we have to take care of everybody," and painting a cartoonish picture of people dying in the streets.

So, as I said yesterday, any number of this on the deep Republican bench of a few months ago very reliably held these views. Really held them. Weird stuff that contradicted them would not be flying out of their mouths.

So this was no game-changer for LITD. Still horrible, just like Hillionaire.

  1. I knew Trump resonates a lot with your thinking. Of course he promises a chicken in your pot too.

  2. You are dead wrong that S-H resonates with my thinking. Maybe you are on some kind of meds today that are affecting clarity of thought.

  3. Why here's the chicken in your pot, you said you liked it and he's gonna do it. You also want a wall at the border. And you want this all fast now, dontcha. And I thought you detested reasonable gentlemen so here's the opposite.

  4. Only meds I'm on are HBP meds which I've had to double-up on this election cycle and penicillin for this tooth ache that hopefully will cure the gonorrhea of the soul I get from listening to Trump's insults of the day.

  5. Well, of course. But here's the reason for the meds snark: I go on to say: "So, as I said yesterday, any number of this on the deep Republican bench of a few months ago very reliably held these views. A core truth at LITD, stressed repeatedly, is that principles do not depend on the character - or even knowledgeability - of those espousing them.
