And to think he'll probably still squeak through

Hagel did himself no favors today in his SecDef confirmation hearings.  The man clearly has no core principles, no fealty to any idea of Western civilization.

The guy pretty much did nothing but step on his you-know-what all day.

But he will soon be the go-to guy for seeing to the ongoing viability of all that freedom-cherishers hold dear.

  1. As the Breitbart link says: "Even liberals and supporters of Hagel are openly lamenting his poor performance."

Sounds like Obama's first debate performance vs. Mittie, you were all high fiving eachother and look where it got you. That Cruz cat, typical colc cold Cuban, icy cold lawyer, and I've dealt with a few, does not ring my bell though either. But, I suppose Texans, who likewise don't ring my bell, must dig him.

As for sickening slaughters, I understand he has been there/done that, as have a number of men I have met over the years. Once you have been there/done that you will do everything you can to avoid a repeat performance. Ike was a lot that way. And so am I, so call me weak, call me a man without principles but I know I have them and one thing I am is generally a peaceful man.

If he is confirmed, well, do what you gotta do. I'd love to see that cold cold Cruz try to do his prosecutorial act on someone like Kurt Vonnegut, now that would be entertainment.

  2. Well, Lugar's too old, and more of a statesman than a warrior, and James Webb, well, unfortunately, all that bull shit that goes with public office finally wore him out.

On his sixty-fifth birthday, he announced that he will not seek re-election in 2012, saying that he does not want to spend his whole life in politics, and that he wants to return to the private sector.

Webb is also an author of many books, stating that "I've written for a living all my life, so writing is as much a part of me as working out."

  4. Because he is a Tper. You folks are legendary freedom lovers. Many of us don't like you one bit. Apparently Hoosier voters agree.
