Time to be unambiguous about this: Russia is a bad actor

The US, after all that areas-where-we-can-work-together rhetoric Trump was spouting about Russia last year, is on board with Teresa May's UK government in taking a strong stand in the wake of the poisoning of the former double agent.

And UK army personnel in gas masks have moved into the town of Gillingham and told residents to stay in their houses. Roads are cordoned off.

As if we needed further evidence that there's much divergence between the world-stage aims of Russia under Putin and the West.

Several hot spots, from Syria to North Korea, are affected.

This is about as real as it gets.
