Squirrel-Hair gonna Squirrel-Hair - today's edition

The chief executive caps off his week in customary style.

There had been at least a semblance of a consensus in, if not objective, at least non-Kool-Aid-guzzling circles that he'd had a fairly good week or two. A great UN speech. Productive sideline meetings at the General Assembly pow-wow. A demonstration of leadership in the hurricane responses.

He squelched it all big-time last night in Alabama. It was characteristic of his rallies since becoming president, which is to say, it was a lot like the rallies from the campaign days. Full of bluster, meandering and obsession with fading public figure Hillary Clinton.

His lack of consistency was on full display with his I-used-to-not-like-the-electoral-college-but-now-I-like-it pronouncement.

And why was it important to say anything about Hillary Clinton's views on the Second Amendment?

And, of course, the biggest takeaway was the digression into NFL knee-takers. Of course, they're spoiled brats who deserve our contempt, but once again, he obliterated the whole concept of presidential demeanor with his wouldn't-you-love-to-see-some-NFL-owner-say-get-that-son-of-a-bitch-off-the-field-he's-fired crowd-stoker. And, in case you weren't aware of what a big shot he is, he mentioned that he's friends with several of them.

And remember that the purpose of the rally was to whip up support for Luther Strange, who is almost certain to lose in the primary to Judge Roy Moore.

And consider that three diehard S-H sycophants - Steve Bannon, Sebastian Gorka, and Sarah Palin - are scheduled to fly in to the state and stump for Moore tomorrow.

The pattern is not a trend of growth in his office. It's one of a hopeful sign followed by true-to-form behavior that provides easy fodder to the Left, makes conservatives cringe, confirms his slavish devotees' view of themselves as at the forefront of a historic American realignment, and diminishes us all.

  1. Just wondering whether your SH meme is catching on at the local bar, in local political circles, perhaps in pockets around the state, before it goes national and even worldwide. I haven't heard anybody else using that moniker yet. How bout DH for Dick Head? As in Dick Head gonna be a Dickhead? Hundreds of millions of people hate him. The Dems and the near and far left should get more credit for doing that. Hating him. And I don't think too many people and countries care much for him either and his insults only increase our resolve, not causing us to cower in fear and get in line. Dick Head!

  2. I read an article about the current military response to NK and the brass were all referring to what Trump wants, what Trump's gonna do, not a mention of the United States of America. I hope we smash your party and him in the midterms.

  3. I'd advise you to get out your checkbook and help them out if you really feel that way and like what they're offering. The Freedom-Haters are on the ropes big-time.

  4. I sure do wish SH would stop poking the NK bear with the "Little Rocket Man" jibes and others. He's not just one man insulting another, but he's putting the whole country, and world in jeopardy with these childish comments. Just shut up and do your job!

  5. I thought about that this morning. If this turns into some kind of clash-of-outlandish-personalities scenario, we could lose sight of the deadly stakes involved.

  6. Looks like more players than ever took to the knee during the NA today. Ole Dick Head sure scared 'em with his tweet they should be fired. Same goes for NK and Iran. Some of your ilk reported their reps quaking in their boots as Dick Head addressed the UN. I don't think so. Dick Head is fanning the flames, not extinguishing them.

  9. I agree that Rump is exacerbating both crises, but even if he were to instantly and radically alter his conduct, those crises (the moral and spiritual rottenness of post-American culture and the threats from Iran and North Korea) would still be there.

  10. It's rare that I run into a morally and spiritually rotten person in America in my day to day activities. How bout you?

  11. I wouldn't say rare, but frequently.

  12. In a lot of cases, it's basically good people who have acquiesced to the rottenness. Presbyterians, artsy types, teachers

  13. I run into sinners all day long, beginning when I look in the mirror. You're talking your view of others' politics there, basically. And I'm not sure you are your brother's keeper. Are you? And I am even not sure if you have license to throw the first or even subsequent stones.

  14. I am of the opinion that morally and spiritually bereft humans are what are called sociopaths or psychopaths light. As near as modern science (which you often damn here, so I won't be surprised if you damn them on this account too) can understand, at present, these homo sapiens are born that way and there is no changing them. A preponderance of sociopaths (more than the 4 per cent or 12 Million people generally estimated to be so-afflicted, 300K of which are really really dangerous psychopaths) are to be found in the military and at the top echelons of corporations and other businesses. Yes, their sin seems the blackest, made even weirder by the evidence that God made them that way.

  15. Stop it. Our culture is hopelessly rotten, and your denial of that in order to pose as a mellow guy is counterproductive.
And that business about being qualified to cast first stones sounds has the strong odor of "nonjudgementalism" that is, to say, moral relativism - about it.

  16. Ditto throwing up smokescreens about nonexistent problems like psychopaths in the military and in corporations.
And any kind of "I have proof! Here are the links!" crap would bolster the case that you wish to distract from the obvious crisis.

  17. Yes, kinda like the 6th commandment, which did not apply to Solomon and his 5000 wives and 3000 concubines but, still strictly construed, looks more than askance at a couple for being divorced or a guy who sees a gal naked in his head, well, that is if he lusts after her.
