Besides, they've been there, done all that and might recall the futility of war, unlike the victors who might think they're on a roll that will never stop. Of course Trump has some convinced that they're just cheap and want a free ride off the US.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty clear from Germany though that you can run an economy on something other than a military-industrial complex that has just received a huge shot in the arm under Trump. Japan, perhaps less so, but we're moving to arm them again too.
ReplyDeleteWhile I would acknowledge that the women's sports community has a problem to solve regarding transgender athletes, that is a long way from justifying continued discrimination and related inequities visited routinely on these citizens.
ReplyDeleteRe: Japan and Germany: much has changed since the immediate postwar years. Both countries have demonstrated great industrial prowess. It's not a matter of "running a country on something other than a military-industrial complex." It's a matter of a Western nation situated in the middle of Europe letting the world's bad actors know it is vulnerable.
