Billy Graham R.I.P.

He was the most recognizable face of evangelism in the world.

Any views he held on secular topics (some of which he later changed), any statements he made that might seem to contradict each other, were all reflections of his sincere desire to make the Lord the measure by which one decides anything. He never tired in his quest to more deeply understand what that meant.

He gained the trust of US presidents from Truman to Obama, as well as a long list of other public figures, because they knew, when talking to him, that they were in the presence of someone who, always and in all things, put Jesus first.

A finer human being this country has never produced.

  1. A good man and a fine preacher who always held my attention, even as a Catholic adolescent. I could not decide whether he was more or less severe than the priests and nuns in my parochial school but he sure could command a kid's attention, well on into adulthood. That delivery and voice were certainly distinctive and singular. RIP Billy, would that God would let you show us all a booming sign from the Great Beyond, but likely all we'll get is the usual silence, though Catholics believe their saints do miracles beyond the grave. Doubt you'll ever be canonized though. Just because.

  2. Compared to Trump's billions, this is chump change. Little Franklin was worth 10 Mil before his daddy died. Protestants don't take vows of poverty. But their rank and file often chides the Catholics for their gold and great art.

  3. What made your thoughts go so quickly to what his net worth might be?
