Bracing straight talk from the Secretary of State

In his presser with Sergei Lavrov, Tillerson gets real:

Tillerson said he had a "productive," two-hour meeting earlier in the day with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.
"I expressed the view that the current state of U.S.-Russia relations is at a low point and there is a low level of trust between our countries. The world's two foremost nuclear powers cannot have this kind of relationship," Tillerson said.
So much for the idea that Russia thought that DJT would be some kind of puppet. Now, the lady in the pantsuit with the "reset" button?

  1. What is so bracing about some southern drawl from a rich oilman talking down to another country? So, what's Tillerson gonna do about that relationship? And the lady in the pants suit is gone, so why bring her into it?

  2. What he is going to do is explain with candor and succinctness to Lavrov and his team exactly what the United States finds unacceptable about Russia's behavior on the world stage. If they are willing to change that behavior, the relationship can improve. If not, it won't.

  4. But why call it bracing? Relations are being described as the worst they've ever been. I'd think bracing would be a word used to describe relations as being the best they've ever been, but not 3 months into the Trump administration were shitting Tomahawks and pissing armadas.

  5. And I've noticed there's a lot of talk about going ot all alone. And doesn't Congress get their say?

  6. Absolutely. Am I saying that aspects of the way Trump is conducting foreign policy concern me? Certainly- but Tillerson's refreshingly sober demeanor is not among them. It's reassuring.

  7. It's just talking down. Putin said the same damned obvious shit. Work it out through established Comstitutional channels or go to your long awaited military solutions, again through well and long established channels. It's easy to talk tough and even easier to start destroying things and people in earnest.

  8. And all this ballsy posturing is mere Trump ego. Far from bracing.

  9. Now your should have been Teddy Boy drops the so-called Father of All Bombs in Afgha. Over hoops and horses and a hogshead of real fire, but not the oversight of Congress. What a manly man!
